According to the watchdog energywatch, a household that has never previously switched provider stands to save around £90 a year by moving to a more competitive tariff. That's almost 10% of the average annual fuel bill.
If you are on a particularly uncompetitive tariff you could save even more. If you are with a cheaper provider, you may be able to shave some money off your bill by switching to a different payment method. Many providers offer cheaper deals to customers who pay by direct debit.
