my turn to go green?

I watched An Inconvient Truth on dvd last weekend. Got to say I am no "treehugger" but after watching this docu-film - this certainly made me sit up and think about buying green. The only problem is that most people think that they can make little difference - that may be true.

It is however easier to make a difference - when buying your
white goods as well as comparing prices - it is easy to check your are buying an effiecient appliance - this site makes it very easy.

Swithing your electricity to renewable sources is very easy to do...you can search suppliers and view the best 'green' options.

Gas and Electric Bills to drop?

Todays announcement that Scottish and Southern Energy has written to its seven million customers informing them that their prices will be reduced within the next few months is surely a sign of things to come.Welcoming the announcement Alistair Phillips-Davies, Energy Supply Director of SSE, said:

"Since last September, we have made clear our intention to cut gas and electricity prices if there was a sustained fall in wholesale prices which would allow us to do so, and I am very pleased that we have now been able to confirm this."

Critics however are suggesting that SSE would have to reduce its prices significantly to offer consumers real rewards for their loyalty.

Geoff Slaughter, Product Manager at website uSwitch said: "uSwitch is calling for double digit decreases now with an overall reduction of 24% for gas and 16% for electricity by the end of year if consumers are to benefit from wholesale price reductions."If suppliers are serious about being fair to consumers they should be cutting prices now, in the winter, when people will really feel the difference in their pockets," he continued.Price rises affect everyone but there's no need to pay more than you have to for your gas and electricity. uSwitch.com will find you a cheaper supplier in your area. Switch gas and electricity online today with our free and impartial service and see how much you can save.

I compare my gas and electricty provider every 6 months. In this market it pays to be aware of the market. By being complacent will cost you money.
