It was the first official recognition for the first of the region's native grape varieties, Pinotage, which came about through the experiments of one Abraham Izak Perold, the first professor of viticulture at the University of Stellenbosch, who decided to use Pinot Noir and Cinsaut to crossbreed and create a new variety suited to South Africa's climate. Harvest of grapes at full maturity and vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel. All with full respect for the starting fruit and its most typical varietal notes. Thus was born a very enjoyable and richly fruity white. In the glass, it has a beautiful light straw yellow color. The nose is highlighted by its rich bouquet of scents, with notes of pear, sweet melon, vanilla and fresh butter. In the mouth, however, it is rich and rewarding. Ripe fruit and citrus notes return in the finish. Decidedly balanced in all its components, this Chardonnay leaves a pleasant memory in the mouth for a long time. From the heart of California comes this satisfying Crane Lake-branded Cabernet Sauvignon. A place, the Saint Joaquin, Central Valley area, characterized by a particularly flat profile. It is here, where the sun beats down hard for several months each year, that most of California's farms are located. The Cabernet Sauvignon produced by Crane Lake ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and is only placed in wood for a few months before bottling. Intense ruby red, the nose is pleasantly fruity and characterized by flavors of blackberry, cherry and raspberry. Only at a later stage are slight vanilla undertones noticeable, resulting from the brief passage in the barrel. In the mouth it has good body and soft tannins. If an all-meat menu is planned, this is the bottle to have on hand.
