Legend has it that the wines of Huentala Wines' Gran Sombrero line are dedicated to the big hat of the company's founder, Julio Camsen, son and grandson of a long tradition of winegrowers in Mendoza. Matured for a good 14 months in French oak barrels, after bottling this wine rests for at least another year in the cellar before being put on sale. This long period of ageing is necessary to make the Malbec from the vineyards of the picturesque Gualtallary valley more harmonious. In the glass, it has a beautiful deep and compact red colour, with clear violet hues. The nose reveals elegant and complex aromas, with distinct varietal character. It is easy to distinguish, for example, plums, blackberries, strawberries, currants, as well as floral notes of violets and dog roses. Over everything, then, a delicate and elegant spicy note that recalls the passage in wood. In the mouth, finally, this wine reveals well-smoothed tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long and fruity.

Thanks to its unique climate and environment, the Iberian Peninsula is, along with Italy and of course France, the nation with the richest ampelographic heritage in the world. Hundreds of typical Spanish varieties are used to produce red wines, fortified wines but also fabulous sparkling wines. Like this Onaya De Don Cristo, a Cava, as the Iberian bubbles are called, made from Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada grapes. A classic method sparkling wine, proposed here in the Brut version, therefore pleasantly dry but not extreme. Vinification in stainless steel for the sparkling wine base, which is then elaborated in the bottle for a period of about a year, achieving a good complexity without losing its immediacy and ease of drinking. In the glass it has a beautiful golden yellow colour, with a fine and persistent perlage that gives life to a soft and compact foam. The nose has a fresh and fragrant bouquet, with notes of citrus fruits, white pulp fruit and a subtle but unmistakable hint of yeast. In the mouth, however, it is immediately pleasant and delicate. The perfect correspondence with what was previously perceived makes this interesting Spanish sparkling wine the perfect companion for aperitifs and simple fish dishes. 100% Albariño, Bico da Ran by Fento Wines, DO Rias Baixas, is made with grapes from the best vineyards in Salnés, in the autonomous community of Galicia. We are in the far north of Spain, on the Atlantic coast. In the Salnés Valley subzone, in particular, the vineyards are located at an altitude of less than 300 meters, and the climatic characteristics, strongly influenced by the proximity of the Ocean, cause mild temperatures and frequent, well-distributed rainfall. Grapes are harvested in the morning to preserve aromaticity and freshness as much as possible. Then the must is fermented using selected yeasts capable of enhancing its primary varietal aromas and then cold stabilized and filtered. Bright straw yellow in color with greenish reflections, this Galician white is extremely typical. Particularly refreshing, it has distinct notes of apple and pear. Then citrus and passion fruit. In the mouth, it confirms its nature as a pleasantly fruity and fresh wine with an intense vegetal character and a medium finish. Glera vines in the province of Trieste are rare that boast the special mention Prosecco DOC Trieste. From one of these comes Millesimato Extra Brut Audace, the first Prosecco DOC Trieste aged in the waters of the upper Adriatic - in the Gulf of Trieste. The name is evocative of the famous Trieste pier called 'Audace' in memory of the landing of the first Italian military ship, the famous destroyer. This walkway suspended over the sea is now one of the most famous in Italy and the privileged stage of the world's largest sailing regatta, the Barcolana. A production limited to 6,492 bottles, this interesting wine matures at a depth of 20 metres, with extraordinarily peculiar parameters of temperature, salinity, concentration of dissolved oxygen, presence of phosphates, silicates, nitrites, nitrates and chlorophyll. All these natural parameters change with the seasons and the passage of the winds, guaranteeing Audace Trieste's unique taste and character. In addition, the Bora and Scirocco generate significant sub-inertial oscillations that contribute to the continuous movement of the bottles. This continuous rocking ensures a very special evolution of the wine. 100% Glera, the grapes are cooled before and during pressing to preserve freshness and varietal aromas. The second fermentation then continues for around ninety days in autoclaves. The result is a Prosecco rich in character, dry and iodised. Straw yellow in colour with green highlights, the perlage is extraordinarily fine and compact. On the nose, white flowers and fresh white-fleshed fruit. In the mouth, however, each sip reveals a strong personality and an unprecedented minerality. This is certainly due to the Glera grapes, grown in the Karst area in the province of Trieste. Excellent as an aperitif, it is a perfect bubbly to accompany the entire meal. Perfect with shellfish and seafood dishes.

A talented young winemaker is the mastermind behind this The Party, a fascinating Malbec offered by Bodega Matias Riccitelli. We are located in Argentina's renowned Valle de Uco, where vineyards touch 1,500 meters above sea level. This particular wine region is characterized by a unique terroir, with an ideal climate for ripening Malbec grapes, resulting in wines of great structure and elegance. Harvesting is done manually between mid-March and the first week of April, using small 20-kg crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes. About 40 percent of the production is vinified from whole clusters without destemming, and alcoholic fermentation takes place in open concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts and at temperatures between 26 and 28 degrees. Two punching-downs are carried out daily. At the end of processing, the wine is aged in cement tanks for about 8 months. The Party shows a beautiful ruby red color of medium intensity in the glass, with aromas of red fruits and floral notes. In the mouth, the wine proves fresh and elegant, thanks to its excellent acidity. Perfect with medium-aged cheeses, as well as pasta dishes dressed with tomato-based sauces and red meats. An "oenological" experience to absolutely try.

Flat-bottomed and reminiscent of an aircraft wing, complete with winglets, Riedel Winewings is described by Georg as “brutally functional, taking the wine’s aromas and flavours on a flight.” Describing the reasoning behind this brutally functional design, Georg says “I chose a flat and stretched bottom with a wing-like shape as it increases the surface area of the wine exposed to oxygen. This leads to greater levels of evaporation and enables a greater intensity of aroma. When positioning one’s head to the glass, the nose is closer to the exposed and wider surface of the wine. This alone would not fully deliver the optimal aroma of each grape variety so, to capture the delicate layered aromas, it was necessary to curve the glass walls and to correctly calibrate the opening of each glass with its rim diameter.”
